  • Is There a Difference Between ShockStrap Ratchet Motorcycle and UTV Tie-Downs
  • The only difference between the ShockStrap Ratchet UTV Tie-Downs with Shock Absorbers # 297-7RSBB-UTV and ShockStrap Ratchet Motorcycle Tie-Downs with Shock Absorbers # 297-7RSBB-M is the title, so people searching for either UTV or Motorcycle tie-downs can find them easier. • How Long is the Fixed Strap of the Erikson Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps and Is There a Shorter Option
  • I called Erikson to check, and the length of the fixed strap of the Re-Tractable Ratchet Straps w/ Push Button Releases, part # EM34420, is 3.5" from loop to start of the hook. Erikson does have a Re-Tractable Rachet Strap that allows the hook to fully retract. It's part # EM34417. The only drawback to this is that there is only one hook. However, it still has the option to be bolted down, so it can still work. I've linked to a video review of this strap for you to look at.

  • What is the Difference Between ShockStrap Ratcheting ATV and Motorcycle Tie-Down Kits
  • ShockStrap Ratcheting Tie-Down Kit w/ Built-In Shock Absorbers # 297-7RSBB-M comes with strap latches on the ends, which you can see more of in the video I have linked. The similar version, # 297-9RSBB-M, does not have those strap latches. The latches are to help keep tie-down hooks from detaching from their anchor points when there is slack in the line.

  • Comparing Thule Cargo Control Options Surf Strap # TH531 and Load Straps with Cam Buckles # TH521
  • The Thule Express Surf Strap, part # TH531, is specialized for use in securing a surf board on Thule or other roof rack crossbars and works best when used in conjunction with one of their crossbar pads, such as part # TH802 intended for round and square bars. The pads help stabilize and protect your surf board or other cargo from scratches. The Thule 9-foot Load Straps, part # TH521, feature polypropylene straps and padded cam-action buckles but require you to thread the strap through...

  • Comparing K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors KS69ZR and KS3891
  • Both of these mirrors are designed to be a universal fit with a manually adjusting mirror, but the K-Source # KS69ZR has a rubber strap that is not ratcheting. The # KS3891 has a ratcheting strap with a different strap that allows you to get a bit tighter around the mirror and will ultimately reduce vibration during travel. The # KS69ZR is also a pair of mirrors where the # KS3891 is a single mirror. You can get a pair of the # KS3891 with part # KS3891-2. I've also linked our review videos...

  • Comparing K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors KS69ZR and KS3891-2
  • The main difference between the K-Source Universal Towing Mirrors part # KS69ZR and part # KS3891-2 is the ratchet mechanism of the latter. The ratchet mechanism makes for a faster install and removal. That said, they both have an equally tight fit on the mirrors. I have used both and I do like the ratchet mechanism due to the ease of use advantage.

  • Comparing the Swagman Quad and XTC4 Platform Trailer Hitch Mounted Bike Racks
  • There are a few differences between the Swagman Platform Style Bike Racks, # S64FR and # S64665. First, the Quad, # S64FR, uses wheel cradles instead of wheel loops. It comes with a different push-button sort of ratcheting frame hook. Instead of using pins to allow the arms to fold down, it has a small lever you push so it is easier to operate. Both racks come with a cable lock. It is quite a bit heavier than the XTC4 # S64665. The Quad weighs over 80 pounds and the XTC4 weighs about 65...

  • Thule Portage or Yakima Keel Over Kayak Rack Recommendation
  • Between the Thule Portage # TH819 and the Yakima KeelOver part # Y04069 I would go with the Portage. It is going to be easier to use and secure since it has the ratcheting tie-downs that you referenced as the pulleys. That will make securing the bow/stern tie downs much easier. Aside from that the two carriers are pretty similar, but the edge goes to the Thule because of the ratchets.

  • What is the Difference Between the Thule Getaway Pro Rack and the Thule Passage Bike Rack?
  • Besides the integrated one key system cable lock on the Thule Gateway Pro 3 Bike Rack # TH78VR, another key difference is that the Thule Gateway Pro 3 Bike Rack # TH78VR has ratcheting straps where the bike attaches instead of the fixed hole fittings on the Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier # TH911XT. The ratcheting straps allow for a more snug, secure fit than the cradles on the Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier # TH911XT. With that being said, I recommend the Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier # TH911XT...

  • Comparing the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider and Swagman XTC2 Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Racks
  • Many of the platform style bike racks are similar. In terms of overall quality and performance, the Swagman XTC2, # S64670, is my top choice when compared to the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider, # HR1000Z. Apart from the same basic design these two racks do have some key differences. First, the wheel hoops used on the Swagman have rubber straps which are durable and protect the bike wheels. The straps used on the Sport Rider are Hook-and-loop straps (similar to Velcro) and can fray over time. The...

  • What is the Difference Between the Thule Helium Pro Vs Helium Aero 3 Bike Rack
  • The Thule Helium Pro 3 # TH9043PRO is the newer version of the Thule Helium series of bike racks and was the replacement for the Helium Aero 3 rack a few years back. The biggest difference between the Helium Pro and the Aero is that the Pro uses a much more durable and reliable ratchet strap as opposed to the rubber strap on the Aero, which can stretch and break quite easily. Additionally the cradles come with a foam-rubber padding that will help protect the finish on the bike much better...

  • Comparing K-Source KS3891 and Cipa 40375 Universal Fit Towing Mirrors on 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • Both mirrors would work on your Grand Cherokee, but I always recommend the K-Source # KS3891 over the Cipa 11960 (which is our part # 40375) because of the way the mirrors attach to the vehicle's factory mirrors. The K-Source mirror uses 2 ratcheting rubber straps for a tight fit that's allows minimal vibration. Combine this with the mirror's light weight, the mirror is not going to move around, it'll stay where you put it. This is why our customers rate this mirror so highly. The Cipa...

  • Comparing the Swagman Chinook and XTC Bike Racks for an Electra Cruiser Bike on a 2012 Toyota Tundra
  • If I was choosing between the Chinook # S64683 and the XTC # S64670 I would go with the Chinook all day. It is a better bike rack and doesn't cost much more. The wheel cradle design is more secure and stable, the straps are easier to use since they ratchet, and the hooks lock into place to deter bike theft. To me these features are well worth a few extra bucks!

  • Difference In Working Load Limit Between CargoBuckle Tie-Downs
  • Although both systems have a strap that measures 2 inches X 6 ft, they have completely different mounting styles and that is why the difference in the WLL(safe working load limit) exists. The WLL is 1/3 of the maximum break strength of the system. As the attached photo shows, part # IMF18804, uses 4 bolts and a plate below the mounting surface it is attached to. The WLL is 1,167 lbs, and the breaking strength is 3,500 lbs for this tie-down. The CargoBuckle G3 Retractable Ratchet Straps,...
